THE EXPEDITION CAST

A Lineup Built for Adventure

A rotating cast built for each story

Rose

Founder & Wildlife Story Designer

Rose Forero is a biodiversity advocate, macro photographer, professional rock singer, artist, big-time foodie, and the creator of BugParche. For 23 years she traveled the world as a renowned conference interpreter, moving through cultures, languages, and ideas while discovering a truth that shaped her future: insects appear everywhere — in cities, forests, rural towns, deserts — quietly sustaining life no matter the landscape.

Twelve years ago, macro photography became her way of exploring that hidden world. After surviving cancer, Rose chose to leave the major cities she had lived in all her life — mostly Bogotá — and relocate to rural Colombia to enjoy life fully and live closer to the tiny creatures that had captured her imagination. Her background in marketing and advertising shaped the way she tells their stories; her artistic life shaped the way she sees them.

BugParche is the culmination of Rose’s purpose. She is deeply in love with insects and with transforming how the world perceives them. Through immersive experiences, she guides travelers, photographers, and curious explorers into the micro world of insects, plants, and forest patterns — revealing how each small detail contributes to the planet’s larger story.

Her walks are vibrant, colorful, and full of personality. Rose brings sound, humor, empathy, and an intuitive sense of what fulfills people. She is lively, warm, and unforgettable — creating experiences that feel alive, hands-on, intentional, and joyful. People don’t just learn from her; they connect, laugh, and leave seeing the world differently.

Rose’s work is her voice, her art, and her way of helping others fall in love with the tiny worlds that sustain us.

Nestor

Founder & Director of Safe Passage

Nestor Pérez is a Colombian-American outdoorsman and physical trainer whose life has taken him across the wild landscapes of both Colombia and the United States. Years spent navigating rugged terrain and demanding environments gave him a deep respect for nature and a unique understanding of how to move through it with strength and awareness.

Alongside that, he built a long career as a business professional, holding high-level corporate roles before choosing a different path — one rooted in land, biodiversity, and purpose. Today, he brings both worlds to BugParche: the discipline and leadership shaped by his past, and the calm, grounded connection to nature that defines his present.

He joined the project to share Colombia’s beauty with travelers from around the world, guiding them through forests and micro-ecosystems with the confidence of someone who knows the land intimately. Strong, thoughtful, and deeply connected to the outdoors, Nestor helps visitors experience Colombia the way he sees it — authentic, alive, and unforgettable.

Griff

Signature Explorer

Griff Griffith is a renowned nature interpreter, conservation communicator, captivating public speaker, and former host of Animal Planet’s Wild Jobs. With more than 30 years of hands-on experience — including fish and wildlife surveys, wildland firefighting, trail construction, commercial fishing, farming, and leading ecological restoration crews — Griff brings the natural world to life through unforgettable stories, humor, and hard-earned field experience.

He has appeared on CNN, NBC Nightly News, The Kelly Clarkson Show, MTV, and in numerous documentaries and media outlets. His nature videos regularly go viral across Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok, with several reaching millions of viewers. Griff also hosts the Jumpstart Nature Podcast, one of the world’s top-ranked nature podcasts.

When he isn’t speaking or creating videos, Griff leads immersive interpretive walks through the old-growth redwood forests of Northern California, helping people slow down, look closer, and experience these remarkable forests in an entirely new way. Through his work with Jumpstart Nature, Redwoods Rising, and as a natural and cultural resource interpreter, Griff helps audiences understand wildlife, connect more deeply with nature, and recognize their own ability to make a meaningful difference. His presentations are educational, funny, inspiring, and grounded in a lifetime spent working to understand, protect, and restore the natural world.

And now, we’ve invited Griff to join us in Colombia — one of the most biodiverse countries on Earth — as part of our mission to create awareness and connect the world through nature. His expertise, storytelling, and passion make him an extraordinary addition to this adventure.

Jaime

Terrain Master

Jaime Ernesto Bolaños Velásquez is a Colombian entrepreneur, nature photographer, specialized bird-watching guide, and conservation advocate based in the department of Tolima. With more than six years of experience leading biodiversity-monitoring projects, sustainable tourism initiatives, and environmental education programs, Jaime has become a key figure in advancing conservation efforts in the Magdalena River Valley. In 2023, he participated in the rediscovery of the Magdalena Tinamou (Crypturellus erythropus saltuarius) in Tolima — a milestone for the knowledge and protection of this rare subspecies.

He is co-author of the books Vida en el Bosque Seco Tropical and Honda, un Río de Aves, and his wildlife photography has been featured in scientific outreach publications. Jaime’s work blends research, photography, fauna monitoring, and nature tourism as tools to conserve biodiversity and promote sustainable development within the communities of the Magdalena River basin.

Today, Jaime brings this same passion and expertise to BugParche, joining the movement to elevate Colombia’s biodiversity on a global stage. His leadership in Tolima and his commitment to conservation make him an essential part of this adventure — helping travelers understand, appreciate, and protect one of the most extraordinary ecosystems in the country.

Kevin

Signature Explorer

Kevin Wiener is an ambassador of arthropods, an exceptional educator, a phenomenal photographer, and a profoundly passionate communicator. After more than 12 years in pest management, he became a leader in the field — and also discovered that most “bugs” aren’t pests at all. He made it part of his mission to teach people how these animals benefit the environment and why they deserve appreciation, not fear.

His lifelong love for photography reignited with a simple macro lens on his cellphone. Five years of mobile photography led him to buy his first digital camera and launch All Bugs Go To Kevin, a project that quickly grew into a global platform for education through online content, live programs, events, podcasts, and publications.

Through All Bugs Go To Kevin and the mentorship of experts, Kevin has expanded his reach as both an educator and photographer. His accomplishments include numerous photo publications, professional speaking engagements, educational programs with live animals, and contributions to science through biological surveys.

Kevin is now entering a new chapter focused on conservation, research, education, and photography around the world — and BugParche is proud to be one of the places where he continues that mission. We’re lucky to have his expertise, passion, and voice as part of our effort to connect people with nature and inspire global awareness.

Dr. Sebastián

Adventure Medical Crew

Dr. Sebastián Serrato is a very young doctor who has found in his profession one of the most meaningful ways to support others. He dedicates his knowledge, vocation, and time to caring for people, understanding medicine not only as a career but as an opportunity to accompany, reassure, and be present when it matters most.

Calm and steady by nature, Sebastián is known for maintaining composure even in demanding situations. He believes that listening, observing, and acting with confidence are essential qualities for building trust. His way of connecting with others is rooted in respect, empathy, and a genuine willingness to help.

He joins this new adventure with enthusiasm and the desire to contribute everything he has learned along his path. His goal is to offer his medical expertise to everyone involved in the project, helping ensure that each person can enjoy the experience with greater peace of mind and safety.

For Sebastián, being part of this journey is also an opportunity to learn, share, and discover new experiences alongside people with diverse stories and perspectives.

Oscar

Terrain Master

Oscar Eduardo Enciso is one of Colombia’s most extraordinary self-taught biodiversity researchers. Over the past six years, he has documented nature through photography, publishing more than 3,400 species and over 18,000 registries on iNaturalist — a contribution that has earned him recognition across the world.

Oscar participated in the discovery of the endemic spider Nativus nocaima, co-authored the municipality’s butterfly and moth guides, and has become internationally known for documenting numerous Lepidoptera species. Researchers, photographers, and nature lovers from around the globe travel to meet him, walk the forests he knows intimately, and learn from the places where he has made so many important discoveries.

He is the creator of A Buscar Bichos, now part of the local environmental education program, where he shares knowledge with schools and community groups under his motto: know, understand, and respect. Oscar has made it his life’s purpose to help rural communities recognize the significance of insects in our lives — and together with BugParche, he has inspired many people to begin admiring and protecting the small worlds that sustain Colombia’s biodiversity.
